  3.                 GRAMMAR SLAMMER--Slam your Grammar Agony with

  5.      The Program that answers the questions the Grammar Checkers can't
  6.  
  7.     GRAMMAR SLAMMER answers those questions that the Grammar Checkers
  8.     can't! GRAMMAR SLAMMER helps you in your writing and grammar the
  9.     simplest way known to Windows« Word Processor users. Grammar
  10.     Checkers are helpful, but they are limited. They miss things and
  11.     often ask you questions you can't answer. ("Do you want a comma
  12.     here?"--"How should I know?" you reply.) Disk-based grammar 
  13.     books can help, but they are cumbersome to use. GRAMMAR SLAMMER,
  14.     on the other hand, supplements the Grammar Checker by providing
  15.     answers in a format that you already know how to use--the Windows
  16.     Help File! One click on a Word Processor Macro or the GRAMMAR
  17.     SLAMMER toolbar and it pops up, ready to go! No office or computer
  18.     which depends on word processors should be without it!
  19.  
  20.                           Installing GRAMMAR SLAMMER
  21.  
  22. To get started, you must install the file VBRUN300.DLL in the 
  23. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If you use a number of Windows programs, it is
  24. probably already there. If not, it is freely available from most online
  25. services, bulletin boards, and software dealers.
  26.  
  27. Then simply run SETUP.EXE, and GRAMMAR SLAMMER will set itself up in
  28. any Windows version 3.0, 3.1, NT, or 95. You can run SETUP.EXE by choosing
  29. the "File|Run" Menu option in the Program Manager and entering SETUP.EXE.
  30. (In Windows 95 the "Start|Run" option on the taskbar does the same thing).
  31. You may also run SETUP.EXE by double-clicking on the SETUP.EXE name from
  32. File Manager (or Windows Explorer in Windows 95).

  34.                            Running GRAMMAR SLAMMER
  35.  
  36. To run the program, double click on the new GRAMMAR SLAMMER icon you just
  37. installed. If the empty "Window" icon appears when you first install
  38. GRAMMAR SLAMMER (sometimes this happens), simply press the "File" Menu
  39. Choice on the Program Manager while GRAMMAR SLAMMER is highlighted. Then
  40. choose "Properties" and then choose the "Change Icon" button. Enter
  41. the directory name plus GRAMSLAM.EXE (this may be done with the "Browse"
  42. button, too). Click on "OK" twice and the GRAMMAR SLAMMER icon will be
  43. in place.

  45.                             Using GRAMMAR SLAMMER
  46.  
  47. GRAMMAR SLAMMER is easy to use. Start it as you would any Windows program
  48. by clicking or double-clicking (depending on your Windows version)
  49. on its icon or by double clicking on the program name in the File
  50. Manager. You can also start it by highlighting the program name in the File
  51. Manager and clicking on the File|Run menu options. File Manager is called
  52. "Windows Explorer" in Windows 95, but the procedure is similar.

  60. All you see is a little toolbar with three buttons or icons.  This toolbar
  61. stays on top of any word processor or program which is running in Windows.
  62. When you need some grammar information, click on the left button with the
  63. "G" and GRAMMAR SLAMMER will appear. When you are done using GRAMMAR SLAMMER,
  64. click on the "Close" button at the top of the Help file, and you will return
  65. to your program, with the Grammmar Slammer toolbar ready for you to use 
  66. again when you need to.

  68. Click on the middle button with the universal "Stop Circle" and the program
  69. will close. Click on the right button with the Question Mark and a Windows
  70. menu will appear giving you some choices to position the toolbar where you
  71. want it, ask for help, turn the pop-up help boxes off and on, and get
  72. additional information.

  74. If you do a lot of word processing, or if you like the convenience of the
  75. GRAMMAR SLAMMER toolbar, install GRAMMAR SLAMMER in the "STARTUP"
  76. Window.  This will cause GRAMMAR SLAMMER to load each time you go into
  77. Windows.  If you do not have a "STARTUP" window, consult your Windows
  78. Operating System Manual on how to create one.

  80. Demo or evaluation copies of GRAMMAR SLAMMER to go with the macro systems
  81. of the three major Windows words processors are available from CompuServe
  82. support forums of Word for Windows, Ami and Word Pro for Windows, and
  83. Wordperfect for Windows. They may be available from other specialized
  84. FTP sites, bulletin boards, and shareware sources.

  118. Like many Windows programs, GRAMMAR SLAMMER needs the file VBRUN300.DLL in
  119. order to run. Put it in your Windows\System directory.  Chances are, you
  120. probably have it installed already.  If not, it is readily available from
  121. most on-line services, bulletin boards, and shareware dealers.
  122.  
  123. If you get a "File Not Found" or "Type Mismatch" error message when you
  124. first try to run GRAMMAR SLAMMER this means that the file GS1.INI is not
  125. installed properly or is corrupted. This file belongs in your \WINDOWS 
  126. directory (folder).
  127.                          Uninstalling GRAMMAR SLAMMER
  128.  
  129. Should you ever need to remove GRAMMAR SLAMMER from your system, the
  130. following is a complete list of the files you must delete: GRAMSLAM.EXE,
  131. GS1.INI (in WINDOWS directory), GSLAUNCH.HLP, GRAMSLAM.HLP, and TBAR.VBX.
  132. You may also need to delete miscellaneous text files that may have come
  133. with the program such as this GRAMSLAM.TXT, VENDOR.TXT, BBSINFO.TXT,
  134. FILE_ID.DIZ, VENDINFO.DIZ, and GRAMSLAM.DOZ.
  135. In addition, Windows 95 will have GSLAUNCH.GID and GRAMSLAM.GID, files
  136. created by Windows 95 to assist the .HLP files. GRAMMAR SLAMMER also uses
  137. VBRUN300.DLL (in WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory), but you should not remove this
  138. file unless you are certain that no other program uses it. VBRUN300.DLL is
  139. a common file used by many programs.
